This year I tried to let go of the idea of Valentine’s Day. To let go of the pressure of the day, the need to feel special, to make someone else feel special just because it’s the 14th of February. It’s nice to have days like this but we should feel inspired to do so whenever we feel like it. So instead of making a big to do about Valentine’s Day (not really like we have in the past) we had a nice night in cooking and having fun with no pressure at all. We made homemade macaroni and cheese and brownies. Mmmm. I opened a bottle of Michigan wine I’ve been holding onto for a year and a half or so. It’s one of my favorite Michigan wines so I thought it would be a nice time to open it. I helped grate cheese and temper the egg into the sauce. Walker cooked the noodles and pretty much made the brownies except for the chocolate heart shape I insisted he let me add. It was all so yummy and it turned out to be a special night in it’s own way. Nothing fancy.
