This year the holiday season was especially crazy for me. Probably one of the reasons I have not posted much at all (I am trying to change this). This was the first holiday season I was on the seller side of things. I was busy, busy, busy filling orders to make so many people happy on Christmas morning. I really enjoyed it and just wished I could somehow see the faces of everyone receiving an OhSoAntsy necklace. This was not a possibility of course but I really enjoyed hearing stories from people who did get them. One person said, “best Christmas ever!”. That was quite special.
In my world though it isn’t quite enough to just be working a day job and having a super busy evening making jewelry for Christmas orders. I had decided early on I wanted to make my boyfriend a sweater for Christmas. Keep in mind this would be my first actual sweater. I’ve made a cardigan and a tunic with short sleeves but this would be my first full on sweater. Finding time to work on the sweater was challenging, especially since I did not want him to find out I was making it. Sometimes I fibbed about making jewelry, sometimes I would knit for a half hour after all my orders were done for the night, I would make as much use of the weekend as possible. One weekend he even went out of town so I worked almost non-stop while he was away. Nearly every minute leading up to Christmas was jam packed. I have not even mentioned yet that I was also making 2 custom knit stockings (oy).
I had to have the sweater done on December 21st since I was leaving for home the next day and we would not be together on Christmas. I knitted for 6 hours almost straight on the 20th saying I was making jewelry. On the 21st I had to tuck in all the loose ends but I had actually finished the sweater. When he opened the box and realized I had knit it, it was so worth it.
I was also quite thankful it fit him and quite well despite not having had blocked it yet. Phew! I was a little worried. He looks quite handsome in his new knit and I know it was get quite a bit of wear since the last new sweater he acquired was from a garage sale.
