The other weekend we got invited to go to a ski/snowboard resort about 2 hours out of the city with some friends of ours. Like I mentioned in a previous post I’m not much of a thrill seeker so downhill isn’t my thang. At first Walker said he’d go snowshoeing with me but he really wanted to snowboard so who was I to hold him back.
I made the decision to go along and read my book, knit, people watch. This always sounds so much more glamorous than it is. The reality is that I was surrounded by skiers and snowboarders and their entire families coming and going and making a lot of noise and commotion. It was hard to find a place to relax let alone sit. It seemed it would be a long day just an hour in but I somehow managed to stay occupied for most of the day. It was nice that the book I brought was set in Alaska and it was snowing big beautiful flakes out and cold. I took a turn reading outside and setting the mood for the book.
My final destination was one of the restaurant/bars with a great view of the people coming off of various trails and I started to notice all of the colors. Everyone has such vivid snow clothes and it looked even more obvious against the bright, white snow. I had a good time capturing different colorful photos. And of course I got a few of Walker getting ready to slide down a hill. The day wasn’t a total bust and once Walker joined me at least I had a bit of company. Plus seeing all the snow was fun and we played car games on the way home.
