My march project complete

April 3, 2013

Remember my March project? I completed it and wanted to share what I came away with and also let you know about my April project.

I had come up with a list of drawing prompts and sketched one every day. I realized that my drawing from memory skills are not so great but that wasn’t the point of the project. It was to take a little time every day creating and letting the mind have fun and wander. I think I accomplished that plus I enjoyed sketching again. It’s always nice to rediscover something you’ve enjoyed doing. Below are my 31 sketches of March.

For my April project I’ve decided to photograph the tree outside of living room window everyday. I’ve always wanted to do a project like this and since it’s spring the timing is perfect. I made a little watercolor calendar to keep my on track and help me remember. At the end of the month I’m hoping to do something really fun with the pictures. We’ll see but I’ll keep it a secret for now just in case.

Finally pictures on the wall

April 2, 2013

I’m so excited to finally have some things up on the wall. We’ve been in our apartment now for over 7 months so really it was about time. What was holding me back the most was wanting it to be perfect before it went up. With a push from a friend I realized I can easily add, change, alter whatever I wanted after the initial installation. That removed the mental block and up the pictures went.

I’m happy with the final result and honestly haven’t felt the need to change anything. It makes me smile and helped make a plain wall pop. Yeah! {Details below}

Resources I used for hanging my pictures:

Maiedae-project condo-art wall
and
Two Rules of Thumb by Smile and Wave

My personal tip: I laid it out on the floor first until I was happy with it, measured and marked where my first left, top corner picture would hang, took a picture of my configuration with my phone, and then pretty much eyeballed it from there. Not bad, hey?

Our easter sunday

April 1, 2013

Yesterday for Easter we went to church in the morning with our friends and then we were invited to a brunch afterwards. We played some corn hole or bean bag toss (whichever you call it), ate some tasty foods, and tried to be in the sun as much as possible. The weather was crazy amazing yesterday. Yeah!

After we ate we took a walk to a nearby park to see a really great view of the city. It was pretty cool. Once Walker and I got home we rested a bit (being in the sun all day is exhausting) but we headed back out to see the sun set. Clear evenings are rare around here so watching the sun set was pretty great. Plus we got a rare chance to get up on the rooftop of our building.

I hear there is going to be at least 3 more days of really great weather until rain maybe? So basically this week is going to be unproductive. Ha! Oh well it’s worth it.
