Working with moorea seal

July 22, 2013

A couple of months ago I attended a blogger event here in Seattle where I met Moorea Seal for the first time. We got to talking and she told me all about her new venture curating a shop full of handpicked items by some of her favorite designers and artists. When we exchanged business cards I told her what I do and showed off the tiny gold Michigan necklace I wear all the time. She seemed to be impressed that I do all my work by hand and said I might be a good fit for her new shop! Ah! I was so excited I and I told Walker all about it when I got home.

A little while later I got in contact with her and we worked out which items of mine she would carry in her shop and I got to work making 35 tiny gold necklaces. I’ll tell you my hands were pretty tired when I was done. It didn’t matter though because I was too excited. Once they were all packaged up I got the honor of dropping them off in person at the Moorea Seal studio here in Seattle. It was really cool seeing where all the magic is taking place.

So today I’m super excited for Moorea and her team because her shop officially went live today! There are so many cute things, and of course my necklaces are over there, so check it out! Go to Mooreaseal.com. Let me know if you buy anything. I’ve got my eye on a few items also…

I’m at alt sf!

July 18, 2013

Right now I’m in San Francisco for the first time and I’m attending Alt SF! I’m no doubt wandering around trying to find my place and get the courage to talk to other attendees. I hope it’s going well. I will fill you in on everything when I return.

When I bought my ticket I started thinking of business card ideas. I already had the cards I was planning on using but I wanted a little gift that would represent what I do. After much thought I decided on California shaped pins with hearts over San Francisco.

I hand cut 75 CA shapes out of a softer wood, I sanded them, wood burned the hearts onto them as well as alt sf ’13 and it’s limited edition #. Next I squeezed on my blog address to the side and then glued the pin back on. Phew! I was hoping to make even more but time just didn’t allow so if you’re one of the first 75 people I meet at alt you’ll get one of these special pins. Yeah!

Blogger exchange #1

July 17, 2013

Recently I saw a post from Lani of Elle Dee Designs looking for bloggers from different states to be included in a blogger exchange. A fun way to meet other bloggers and get fun things in the mail. Yeah! I contacted her immediately to be her Washington blogger.

The first theme was where you come from. I sent out a Washington themed package and in return I got a North Carolina themed package from Kristin of Celebrate the Goodness. It was filled with all sorts of thoughtful gifts and a little note from Kristin. I was so excited when I saw it waiting for me at the mailboxes.

It was nice getting to know a little about Kristin and I look forward to preparing and receiving my next package. This is fun.
