August project complete

September 10, 2013

Last months project was to do some sort of exercise each day of the month in the form of walking, workouts, biking, running, or any other physical activity. I did a good job of making sure to do something active each day but I had a harder time remembering to take a picture while doing it. But honestly it’s probably not that safe to take pictures while biking. Here is my months project in pictures:

August project

Just to be sure I’m not letting the fact that August is over to get all lazy. We’ll be moving soon which will be a lot of lifting and heaving things around but once we’re in our new place I will have space to work out inside which I’m really excited about (especially since the rain will be coming soon).

Anyhow my project for this month is to take a picture of a different color every day. The whole picture needs to be the same color. I think this one will be a little more interesting to see at the end of the month as a large color collage. I’m looking forward to that. This might be the easiest yet to play along with and it’s super easy to catch up.

A letterpress event

September 9, 2013

This past weekend I attended the 12th Annual Letterpress Wayzgoose and steamroller smackdown here in Seattle with a friend of mine who also has a love for letterpress. Basically the event is centered around 16 groups who all designed a large print that throughout the day gets printed on large pieces of paper with a steamroller making large prints that eventually get auctioned off to benefit the School of Visual Concepts. Phew that was a long sentence.

The event also included a market where you could buy pretty things and the print shop was open so you could make a free print of your own. It was fun to watch the giant prints being made and it makes me want to take a class now more than ever. It will have to wait though since I’ll be gone for 2 weeks this fall when my nephew is born! I think he’s well worth the wait.

A quick ferry trip

September 6, 2013

This past Monday, also Labor day, we rode the ferry to Bainbridge Island with our friends. Riding a ferry boat was high on their list of things to do and so we made it our mandatory Monday before they drove home plan. I wasn’t sure I was so into riding the ferry again since just a couple weekends ago we rode on a few ferries while Walker’s parents were in town but it turned out to be fun. It’s always nice when someones excitement can rub off on you. I guess that’s what good friends are for.

We had their car with us so we drove down the road and found a breakfast/brunch spot. It turned out the place we chose was a super cute vintage diner. Perfect! We all got something to eat, which was good because I was starting to get hunger pains (I don’t usually wait so long to eat breakfast).

Then we drove right back to the ferry with perfect timing and had a wonderful ending to a very fun weekend.
