Recently my dad was in town for a visit. It was the perfect time to explore Washington and head to some weekend locations that have been on my list for quite some time. I discovered Cama Beach State Park about 2 months after moving to Seattle and I guess I sent the link to my dad because he suggested it based on the link I emailed. I was pretty pumped! Way to go me for planting that seed even if I don’t remember having done so.

We drove up Friday after picking Walker up from the testing center (he passed another one of his actuarial exams making the weekend even more celebratory) and arrived after dark. At Cama Beach they don’t allow you to drive your car up to the cabins so they provide a shuttle, although the walk is short. We all joked about the shuttle making us feel like we were at an amusement park-a rustic one. It added to the intrigue though for sure. The cabins themselves are adorable. I probably spent the first 15 minutes saying how much I loved it! We are also right on the water so the view was amazing which we got the full effect of the next morning.

During the weekend we laid in the sun, toured the center for wooden boats, took a hike, saw the nearby lodge, walked along the shoreline and played games in the cabin. It was relaxing and beautiful and I’m already planning my next trip out there. Cama Beach did not disappoint and was better than I imagined. I love when that happens.

Remember when Seattle won the Superbowl? I’ve never lived in a city before now that had an NFL team so as Seattle neared the Superbowl I got pretty excited and for more than just the chips and salsa. Friends of ours hosted a party for the game and when it was pretty clear we were the winners we were pumped! We also knew that the city would be ecstatic! When the game was over we headed back to Capitol Hill where apparently the party was happening. Everyone was so excited and wanted to celebrate so they just headed out into the streets. People drinking, setting off fireworks (that was a little scary), chanting, throwing skittles and toilet paper in the air were blocking some of the main roads through the neighborhood. It was a little pointless but it didn’t seem to matter it was fun! We crowd watched for maybe an hour and while it was still before our bedtime we headed home (I kind of like Superbowl on the west coast).

Celebrating ohsoantsy’s 3rd annivsary

February 20, 2014

I have so much to share! I’ve been a little behind and off schedule because my dad has been in town for a little under 2 weeks. We had so much fun and I can’t wait to show you some more of this beautiful state but right now I need to get back on track! Starting with a recap of celebrating the ohsoantsy shop’s 3rd anniversary.

My shop turned 3 on January 31st and I had a little celebration on the blog but I also wanted to have a little celebration with friends and Walker. A few days before the 31st I caught a cold from our house guest (we’re making some silly sick faces in the second picture) and it was working it’s way through my system. I figured I could have it licked by the 31st, that Friday, but as it turns out I had not. All day long my nose was running causing my nose to tickle, my eyes to seize up and water profusely, and then maybe make me sneeze. It was pretty miserable since it alternately looked like I was crying and temporarily blind all day and I couldn’t control my snot from literally dripping right out of my nose (gross I know). I was going for it tough. Walker got home and at the site of me questioned if we should go ahead with it. Yessss I moaned because I really didn’t want to celebrate on a different day.

So I got dressed up, did my hair, did my best to disguise my sick face with make up and eyeliner and distract with bright red lips (although I left the mascara off for obvious reasons). Then I mustered up all the energy I could and celebrated with my friends. It turned out to be pretty fun but I’m also glad we decided to celebrate at home because once everyone left I went immediately to bed.

Happy 3rd anniversary! For next year I just hope not to be sick.
