Friend road trip-joe and natalie

August 29, 2012

One of the best things about being home for this whole summer is getting to spend quality time with my good friends. On previous trips home I barely get to see any friends and if I did it was for mere hours. Not good enough! I planned a little friend road trip and I saw so many of my friends in about 6 days I was so exhausted by the end but also so happy.

My first stop was seeing my friends Joe and Natalie. Joe and I go way back to community college but I go pretty far back with Natalie too since they’ve been dating for about 7 years. It was my first time seeing them since they got engaged and bought a house! Holy cow! I’m so happy and excited for these too. I spent the better part of 3 days with them catching up, eating, drinking, laughing, sharing stories, having heart to hearts, exploring and so on.

I got a pretty awesome tour of their new house/property and it’s pretty incredible. I’ll share more about that in a post or 2. I will say though that I was pretty pleased with the blackberry bushed in their yard. We would just walk out there and eat our fill, not without injury though-those bushes are wicked!

(I happened to be there for their engagement photos and I trailed along taking my own shots. The last picture is my favorite!)

“long” bike trip to town

August 28, 2012

I wrote a brief post last week about our bike ride to town and I had just a few more picture to share. It’s about a 3 mile bike ride to town and it was only the 2nd time Mago ran along side the bikes. We were getting him trained to run around Mackinac island. He did really well, but of course we took frequent breaks for him to drink water and to rest in the shade.

I love how the scenery out here is so unchanged, it sometimes feels as if we’ve gone back in time and I love that. The bike ride was pretty fun and this was the first time I biked all the way up the big hill without taking a break or just plain walking my bike up. I thought maybe it just seemed big as a kid but it really is quite a big hill. I treated myself to a larger than usual ice cream cone in town as a reward. After our ice cream break we went to the lake so Mago could relax and play in the water (err sand). He is so silly.

Catching up with friends

Hey! So I’m back to normal posting! I have my pictures uploaded finally and I have so much to share.  This is my last week home so in less than a week I will be living in Seattle. I know Walker is beyond excited and most of me is too but I’m sad to be leaving my home yet again and all my family and friends. I’ve had such a great summer and I guess it’s only fitting it should also end when everyone heads back to school. I’m currently back at my dad’s (I said bye to my mom yesterday and that was pretty sad) and now I have the arduous task of deciding what to pack for the plane, what to mail, what to leave behind for another trip and what to plan get rid of. I’m exhausted just thinking about it. So let’s take a break from that and enjoy some lovely pictures from the summer.

I posted last week about meeting up with friends. Here are a few more pictures of my friends and me being silly, drinking local beers, and hitting up the dairy queen.
