Customer’s story-Heather

September 24, 2012

This week I get the honor of sharing Heather’s story. I first met Heather this spring when we both attended BlissDom. We were both in need of a roommate for the event and we hooked up over the internet to share a room. It was a wonderful experience, one we both enjoyed very much. It was was great getting to know Heather and finding out about her amazing family. When I started this feature the first person I thought of was her and I’m so excited to finally be sharing her story.

In 2003, my husband and I were fortunate enough to spend 4 weeks in Moscow,
Russia. We were surrounded with breath taking architecture, beautiful people, amazing
food, and ancient art. It was a wonderful time of connecting in a breathtaking setting.

I think the best thing about Russia is the souvenir we brought home. At the time, she
was 19 months old, weighed 19 pounds, and had a head of lightweight brown hair. Her
eyes were the deepest mocha and shone like half-dollar moons. She had an infectious
laugh. I loved her the moment I saw her. She is one of the most beautiful people in my world.

Michael and I waited about 3 years for Nina to come home. We prayed patiently for that
perfect little one to enter our lives. It took a village to bring our family together. For that
I am forever thankful!

It has been 10.5 years since our gotcha day. Our little Nina is turning 11 and it seems
that since we have gotten home – time has flown by at warp speed. She has turned into
an amazing young woman. God has given her an artist spirit with a compassionate
heart like no other. She creates fun times for her 2 brothers and baby sister. In her free
time at school, she takes a step out to read to the special needs class. She continually
amazes us.

(Russia Necklace)

Our family will always have a special place for Russia in our hearts. That is why I
thought Nina needed a little piece of Russia to carry with her. Thank you Jessica for a
very special necklace that is perfect representation of a piece of our familyʼs heart!

If you are enjoying these stories please feel free to share. Join me tomorrow as I’ll be sharing the top questions I get asked about my work!

A walk to the park

September 21, 2012

I mentioned to Walker the other day that one of the reasons I was so excited to move here was to be closer to nature since there is so much of it in and around Seattle. I was bummed because we live in a more urban setting here and so far had not had any adventures to more naturey areas. Of course I could have ventured out on my own but being the chicken I am I wanted to first explore with Walker in order to feel comfortable doing it on my own. So last night when Walker got home he suggested (without me even saying anything) that we take a walk to the park I’ve mentioned wanting to go to.

I was so excited! Plus the weather was gorgeous and we got to the park just as the golden hour was setting it, how perfect is that? It was everything I was hoping for and more. It’s filled with giant trees, and pretty blooming dahlias, pretty green grass fields to sit in and enjoy the park. Oh I was loving it! It was just what I needed.

As we were heading out of the park we stumbled upon a water tower turned lookout tower and ventured up the winding stairs to some incredible views of the city. I can’t wait to go back. It’s got me even more excited to visit as many parks in and around Seattle as we can. I suggested 2 a month but Walker is thinking maybe 1 a month with his busy schedule. Maybe my schedule will pick up too and then I can agree on that. Ha!

Next week I will be on vacation! Not to worry though I have a lot of fun posts planned. On Monday I’ll be sharing another customer story and the rest of the week and into next week I’ll be sharing some of the top questions I get asked about my jewelry and I’ll be answering them right here! I will also have some discount codes while I’m away so be sure to stop by and check them out. Have a wonderful weekend!

What i’ve been eating/cooking

September 20, 2012

Since I now work from home I spend a lot of time very near the kitchen and thinking about food. Ha! That being said I try to eat small meals and have healthy snacks throughout the day. Walker and I have been taking turns cooking the meals and saving money by not eating out. Win, win!

A pear from the farmer’s market I ate with some blue cheese.

Local greens with vegetables from the farmer’s market salad.

The beginning of banana oat muffins.

Corn on the cob also from the farmer’s market.

Stuffed cabbage (my version that lies somewhere between a lebanese and a polish recipe).

Enjoying one of my home cooked meals.
