Happy day of love

February 14, 2013

Every year I struggle with should we celebrate Valentine’s day or not. I get very rational when I think of all the commercial reasons not to. On the other hand being a girl who was without boyfriend for my first oh 25 Valentine’s days it’s hard me for not to want to.

I guess I’ve made a compromise with myself. While we won’t be putting any ridiculous expectations on each other of what the day should be we are taking a little bit of time to have fun and appreciate each other. It’s so easy to forget this sometimes in our everyday lives and endless to do lists.

So this year my plan is this. We both get to choose a part of the meal (I have the main course), decide what ingredients are needed, and write a series of clues for each item. Then we’ll be heading to the store and using our clues the other made for us and shopping for all the “items” on the list. I wrote 4 clues for each item with the 4th clue being a sort of bonus and a little bit more telling. There can be no cheating and we can’t ask the other if we are right. If everything goes as planned we will make our meal once we get home and have a quiet night in. I’m sort of hoping one of us chooses the wrong item because it could be pretty funny. I don’t want to give away too much right now but I’ll share everything tomorrow.

I think this would be such a fun date idea! If it goes well we might have to use this one again.

Lunch on the 75th floor

February 13, 2013

On Friday of our visit from out of town guests we got to have lunch at the Columbia Tower in downtown Seattle. We were on the 75th floor and it seemed quite luxurious. It was a clear enough day to see quite a bit of the city but no mountains (at least it wasn’t raining so I’m not complaining).

After lunch I braved getting close to the windows and looking down (I’m afraid of heights so my legs get a little weak). I attempted a look out the telescope but I was a little too short-so it goes.

More chocolate

February 12, 2013

I mentioned this past Friday that my out of town guests and I took the Theo chocolate tour. Here are a few more pictures of your visit. I would suggest waiting until your tour to taste any chocolate because you get quite a bit. We made the mistake (depending on how you look at it) of tasting chocolates, having more tastes on the tour, and ending up back in the tasting room for even more samples. Yes they were all good but I think we all agreed that we overdid it. It was quite tasty though and we all bought a few treats to take home.
