Family reunion

July 24, 2012

Over the weekend my family and I got together for a reunion. It’s always a good time when we get together and you never know what’s about to come out of someone’s mouth. Most of the time we are laughing so hard we can barely speak. This year was a bit more laid back, as oppose to past years where talent shows and games were involved. We did a TON of eating and relaxing. We ended each night with a bonfire. Oh my family is great and we sure know how to have a good time.

Corn!

Keep the floating roaster lid in the circle game. Haha!

These wigs make an appearance at almost all of the reunions. They are so fun!

Out on the boat

July 16, 2012

Over the weekend I finally got to take a ride on my dad’s Boston Whaler. He got it last year and up until now I haven’t been able to take a ride. I was in Michigan last September but the weather was way too cold for speed boating around the lake so I had to patiently wait until this summer.

It was it’s first time on the water this season so we took it to a small lake near my dad’s house for a test run. It takes about 1 minute to get to the other side so we took a lot of loops around the lake. It was so fun though! The weather was perfect. After a few laps we anchored the boat and ate our lunch, relaxed, jumped in the water, and listened to a bit of music. Then we zoomed around the lake a bit more and finally headed in. A good day indeed!

Knitted gifts for baby

July 11, 2012

This past weekend I went to a baby shower for some good friends of mine. I started knitting the baby booties on the drive home from Texas but I still had 1 baby booty to go and a bonnet to knit. There were only a few days between getting home from Texas and heading down for the shower and it was filled with unpacking, cleaning, organizing and so on. I knew I would have a super long bus ride and would have time to knit and that’s what I was counting on. I am the queen of last minute knitting! Good thing my projects were small. Even with 9 hours on the bus I still had knitting to do. Good thing I arrived on a Friday and the shower was on Sunday. I knitted after everyone had gone to bed and everything was done and wrapped before the party began. Talk about cutting it close.

Both of my knitted items were free patters from Purl Bee one of my favorite go to sites for all things crafty and beautiful. I made 2 sets of the baby moccasins and a matching baby bonnet (I wrapped it before I photographed it but I plan on getting pictures of the new baby girl wearing it).
