A walk to the park

September 21, 2012

I mentioned to Walker the other day that one of the reasons I was so excited to move here was to be closer to nature since there is so much of it in and around Seattle. I was bummed because we live in a more urban setting here and so far had not had any adventures to more naturey areas. Of course I could have ventured out on my own but being the chicken I am I wanted to first explore with Walker in order to feel comfortable doing it on my own. So last night when Walker got home he suggested (without me even saying anything) that we take a walk to the park I’ve mentioned wanting to go to.

I was so excited! Plus the weather was gorgeous and we got to the park just as the golden hour was setting it, how perfect is that? It was everything I was hoping for and more. It’s filled with giant trees, and pretty blooming dahlias, pretty green grass fields to sit in and enjoy the park. Oh I was loving it! It was just what I needed.

As we were heading out of the park we stumbled upon a water tower turned lookout tower and ventured up the winding stairs to some incredible views of the city. I can’t wait to go back. It’s got me even more excited to visit as many parks in and around Seattle as we can. I suggested 2 a month but Walker is thinking maybe 1 a month with his busy schedule. Maybe my schedule will pick up too and then I can agree on that. Ha!

Next week I will be on vacation! Not to worry though I have a lot of fun posts planned. On Monday I’ll be sharing another customer story and the rest of the week and into next week I’ll be sharing some of the top questions I get asked about my jewelry and I’ll be answering them right here! I will also have some discount codes while I’m away so be sure to stop by and check them out. Have a wonderful weekend!

What i’ve been eating/cooking

September 20, 2012

Since I now work from home I spend a lot of time very near the kitchen and thinking about food. Ha! That being said I try to eat small meals and have healthy snacks throughout the day. Walker and I have been taking turns cooking the meals and saving money by not eating out. Win, win!

A pear from the farmer’s market I ate with some blue cheese.

Local greens with vegetables from the farmer’s market salad.

The beginning of banana oat muffins.

Corn on the cob also from the farmer’s market.

Stuffed cabbage (my version that lies somewhere between a lebanese and a polish recipe).

Enjoying one of my home cooked meals.

At a bookstore

September 19, 2012

Yesterday on my walk home from the post office I decided to pop into the used bookstore Walker had told me about. My first impression, based on the lady at the counter and the big cat in front of her, was that this bookstore was a bit unique. She informed me there were 3 cats living in the shop and as I walked around I noticed quite a few cat climbing trees scattered throughout the place. I was also on the lookout for the other 2 cats. I found 1 and we had a moment.

On my way out of the store I was handed a bookmark and the lady at the front told me if I collect all 8 different cat bookmarks there is a $20 gift certificate to be had. I suppose that’s incentive enough to come back.
