The other evening I was cooking in the kitchen and Walker was studying in the back room and I called him into the kitchen for some reason (I can’t remember now). Then he walked into the living room and looked out the front window to see this. He called me over right away and we both just stared at the beauty of this rainbow. I was so glad that for whatever reason I interrupted his studies because the rainbow lasted for only a few minutes and then was gone. Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

On the day we moved
October 1, 2013
Before I get into it I wanted to say happy October! I love this month and I will love it even more in the years to come because my sister is having a baby this month! Also yesterday was her 31st birthday-happy birthday again sister-I love you!
Yesterday I took a look back at our old apartment and today I’m sharing some sneak peeks of our new place. Once we’re settled in I will share again but this will do for now. We started our move last Wednesday and in preparation for the move I made a full meal to feed our helpers once we were done. We decided not to rent a truck and take advantage of the generous help that was offered to us. I felt really lucky to have so many friends offer after just over a year of living here.
Our layout is this. We are renting the back half of a duplex that shares a living room and kitchen wall. We have 2 bedrooms (can I say studio/guestroom?!), a backyard (all to ourselves) which is surrounded by a community garden and has a swing in it, we have a garage (not for parking but for fun things like beer making and setting up my summer studio), we also have a sweet mirrored wall in the living room-which I thought was weird at first but I actually really like.
A few of them are a bit grainy because I only knew where my iphone was when we were moving. I promise when I share proper photos of the place I’ll use my actual camera. There is a sneak peek. It’s been almost a week in the new place and I’m starting to really appreciate it. I knew I would because transitions are hard for me but I can feel myself coming over the hump and it’s good.
Goodbye old apartment!
September 30, 2013
We’ve moved but before I share too much about the new place I wanted to say goodbye to the old one (I tend to get pretty sentimental about things). Also we’re still setting up our new place but I’ll share when we’re settled in a bit more. We started moving on Wednesday with the help of friends and moved more things on Thursday and some more things on Friday and yesterday Walker and I took 2 bikes trips to get the remaining things and say goodbye-well I was saying goodbye, Walker was just getting the stuff.

Our place was full of vintage charm and had 2 big beautiful windows in the living room that made you feel like you were in a tree house. The hummingbirds loved the trees out front and I would watch them fly around doing what they do. It’s easy to wonder if you’re making the right choices as you’re making them but I think we were ready for a move. It was a little sad saying goodbye to the first place we’ve lived together though. But onto the next thing right? Onto a guest room/studio, a backyard with a garden, a garage that we can do any number of things in, a quieter neighborhood for peaceful evening walks (when it’s not pouring out which is basically has been all weekend long).
Goodbye 1 bedroom apartment in capitol hill! Maybe we’ll walk by and visit from time to time but chances are not as often as we’d like.
