Snippets of my life lately

December 11, 2012

1. I talked Walker into trying a Mexican restaurant close to our place and we were quite pleased. The food was ok but the place was so cozy and the staff was so super nice. Walker was talking in Spanish to our waitress and I think she was pretty impressed. I practiced what little Spanish I could remember with him. It was pretty funny.

2. We made apple butter. Our canning was sketchy at best so I hope it doesn’t go bad.

3. Packages….oh so many.

4. I found a discarded rose head on the ground and rescued it.

Figgy pudding caroling competition

December 10, 2012

This past Friday we were invited to a fun Christmas event downtown by some friends of ours. It’s a good thing we know people who know of fun things happening around town. Ha! Luckily it wasn’t raining and it was just cold enough, although after a while our feet did get a bit chilly.

Being new to Seattle I have never heard of the event but I guess every year caroling groups from around town complete to raise money for charity while spreading holiday cheer. The songs ranged from the traditional to holiday inspired songs to the tune of pop songs. Those were our crowd favorite.

After the winners were announced and sang to us on the big stage we headed to see the giant gingerbread houses. They were really amazing. It got me wishing they were life size so I could walk in and eat the candy off the walls. hehe.

If you head over to my etsy shop today through Tuesday at midnight please use the code ALMOST25 to save 10% off your order. Make sure to get those Christmas orders in soon so you can have them in time!

Adventure along the coast

November 28, 2012

Walker and I got back from Oregon on Saturday night but we didn’t have to return the car until Sunday afternoon. Woo! We decided to wake up super early on Sunday and have an adventure!

First off it was the foggiest I’ve ever seen it here when we left in the morning. Second we soon discovered that the Seattle marathon was happening that morning and our original destination was blocked. We weren’t able to cross over the water. After driving around through town a little frustrated we headed north. I did some quick searching and we chose to drive up to the Chuckanut Drive and check out the coast.

Between the ribbons of fog the scenery was pretty wonderful. We kept going oh wow, look at that. We stopped a couple of times to check things out and after a while decided we better turn around and head back to the city.

I got caught in a sneeze-thanks Walker.
