An iris farm

June 25, 2013

Last week I mentioned I was home in Michigan. After a few days of camping Walker headed off to the airport while I stuck around for a little while longer. On our drive back to my mom’s from camping we stopped to tour an iris farm. Through all the years of camping I don’t think I’ve ever seen it so it was fun to do something new! Also the flowers were quite beautiful.

Good times had all around. The last 4 photos were taken on Walker’s last day. We took a trail from the campsite that lead to the lake and we had the beach nearly to ourselves. My mom wrote on the sand, Emil wandered around, I pointed out all the beetles on the beach and Walker took their pictures. I think Walker enjoyed this outing the most because we didn’t have to get in the car, it was an adventure, and well Lake Michigan sure is pretty.

Until next year…

Walker’s first mother/daugher camping trip-part 1

June 21, 2013

I have probably mentioned the last couple of years that every summer or fall my mom and I go on an annual camping trip. It started with my mom and all 3 of us siblings but my brother and sister went on to other things and I kept the tradition alive for 14 years now! Holy cow!

This year I was excited to be bringing Walker along for his first (hopefully not last) camping trip. We were also joined by my sister and her husband and my mom’s husband. It was fun having everyone out. We spent a lot of time cooking and cleaning and some time showing Walker our yearly hangouts. I think he enjoyed most of it with his only complaint being that we spend too much time in the car. Well I can’t argue that.
