Picnic in the Park

April 26, 2012

It was so nice this past weekend I insisted we have a picnic. I typically like to prepare fancy picnic food but we did it on a whim so I didn’t really have much time. I did manage to whip up some deviled eggs and some ice tea with mint and I brought along some of my beautiful strawberries from the farmer’s market. So pretty and tasty! We biked down to the park a few block from my place and found a nice spot under a tree in the shade. We ate our snacks and played a bit of frisbee. I was sad that we could hang up our hammocks but I guess it was fun anyhow.

Farmer’s Market

April 24, 2012

I love going to the farmer’s market! I really really love it! It has been weeks since I’ve been last so when Walker suggested it on Saturday morning I was so excited! To make things even better the weather was perfect. It had cooled down a bit so I got to wear jeans, a light sweater, and a light scarf. There is something so refreshing about a cool morning. Whenever I go I try and buy from as many different booths as possible. It’s my way of supporting as many vendors as I can, it makes me feel good. I’ve come to know one farmer so well he hugs me whenever he sees me and asks why I’ve been away for so long. (Good question since every weekend I manage to come out I wonder why I hadn’t come back sooner) This was perfect timing I think because strawberries are in season here. Yes!! I’m a berry fanatic and have been since before I could walk. I bough some strawberries and also some strawberry ice cream. I guess I didn’t plan that too well because I forgot we had an errand to run afterward and oh shoot I had to eat all my ice cream before we left. Hahaha! (Well I shared a little with Walker) Check out all my goodies! I love getting home and taking inventory. Now what to cook with all my fresh, local veggies?

Live Oak Birthday Party

April 19, 2012

Every year the Live Oak Brewery here in Austin hosts a birthday party for themselves. I’m pretty sure I have been to every single one since I’ve been living here. I’m pretty sure they were the first local brewery I discovered and I fell in love with their hefeweizen and their seasonal primus and treehugger. Anyhow they generously give out free beer at the event and sausage wraps (yum), and live music. It’s too good to miss, hence why we come every year. I got confetti thrown all over me in the beer line that was kind of funny. It’s a party after all.
