iphone snippets-mackinac island

August 23, 2012

I barely had a day of rest until I was off again! This time I headed to Mackinac Island with my dad and Mago. We biked around the island (taking many rest and water breaks for Mago), explored the hotel grounds (where most of Somewhere in Time was filmed-one of my all time favorite movies), took a short nap, had a picnic in the park, walked around the downtown, saw the sunset, swam in the pool, watched the stars from the lawn, and….took a near midnight bike ride to try out our vintage bike lights (they work great by the way!). Wow! What a day! I was extremely tired by the end of the day.

The next day we took it easy compared to the previous day. We sat out on the big lawn and enjoyed the beautiful morning, checked out of the hotel, explored the shops and I got my required chocolate covered strawberries. mmm. Then we headed out back on the ferry to the mainland. It was a fun day and a half but I’m also looking forward to taking it easy for the next few days (other than the large number of orders that need to be mailed-it’s a good thing I love what I do). Have you taken any short, but fun, trips lately?

iphone snippets-memory lane

August 21, 2012

I am still without my camera chord so I am still sharing iphone pictures. I will back to normal posting next week and I will also explain more about what I’ve been up to along with better pictures. Basically though the last few days and over the weekend I have taken a super fun, crazy, exhausting trip down memory lane. Being in Michigan for so long this summer has given me the opportunity to see so many friends I’ve not seen in years and felt like I was neglecting. While visiting friends I also got to hang out with my mom a bit, as she came along, and we stayed at the cutest bed and breakfast in my old college town. (The last picture is actually from my campus-it’s where I took so many of my math and physics classes-oh memories).

moomers ice cream

August 10, 2012

A few years ago my mother and I discovered Moomers. I can say with all honesty it’s the best ice cream I have had to date. We originally discovered it in a little shop in one of the town near where we camp. They since stopped carrying that brand so the last couple of years we’ve had to go straight to the source (not a bad thing and the ice cream shop overlooks the farm where the dairy cows live). This year though it seems almost every place we went had Moomers ice cream and more often than not we just couldn’t resist. Our favorite flavor is coconut almond delight. I could eat it every day and never get sick of it. There are chopped almonds, tiny chocolate chips, and coconut flakes. mmmm. We probably had Moomers about 4 or 5 times over the span of our camping trip and I don’t regret a single scoop! If you are ever on the west side of Michigan near Traverse City get some! You’ll thank me!
