My birthday is on the first

January 3, 2013

Yes that’s right I share my birthday with the year! Woo! It’s sounds more exciting than it really is. Every year I complete with the year in celebration of our birthdays. Sometimes it’s exhausting and other times it’s quite wonderful. This year was a mix but I think the good won overall. {more on this tomorrow when I talk about my traditions I mentioned on the 31st}

We woke up relatively early on my birthday and the sun was shining! Woo! We ate breakfast which mostly consisted of leftover food from the night before and the black eyed pea soup Walker had made the day before for good luck in the new year. It was actually quite good. We took advantage of the sun and went to a spot with a great view and took a bunch of fun pictures. I’ll share more on another day. It was pretty fun.

Then we stopped by our favorite doughnut place for yet another food that brings good luck in the new year and headed home. We relaxed for most of the day and cuddled at home. Really what more could I really want on my birthday. The days that I don’t plan are so much more fun. This I need to remember. At 6 we had a dinner date at a restaurant very close by. We tried a couple of delicious foods and chatted about the previous year and what’s to come for us in 2013. Then we popped into the chocolate martini bar and shared what I would think is the best chocolate martini (although I don’t have a lot to compare it to).

Finally we headed home and I put on my comfy clothes. I lit my candles for the 2nd time and made a wish, ate some cupcake, and snuggled on the couch to watch a movie. It was a lovely birthday and I was so blessed to have so many wonderful friends and family call me to chat and wish me happy birthday. It helps that I have a memorable birthday.

Christmas update

December 31, 2012

I mentioned Walker and I headed out to Oregon for our Christmas this year. Before we left we celebrated our Christmas and took a few silly pictures by our tree.

-helping Walker focus the lens

-new books for Christmas (the best gifts)

-all the stockings hung at our Oregon Christmas

-laying around

-yeah awesome breakfast

-a horse friend we met on a walk

-it snowed a little

-our view of the mountains while we were there

-it was fun being entertained by kids and puppies alike

We had a great time visiting with new friends and family. Christmas was wonderful and then the aweful bug hit us all. It caught us 2 by 2 it seemed. I got it on night 3 and spent the next day on the couch recovering. Luckily I felt great by the time we had to hop on the bus to come home. Walker wasn’t as fortunate as he was feeling a bit ill on the bus but managed to make it home. We are now both feeling great and ready to party our butts off on this New Year’s Eve! Yeah!

Merry christmas!

December 25, 2012

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Christmas with family and friends. We are in Oregon having a blast but I wanted to share a few photos from some holiday events and celebrations earlier this month.

-The trees at the conservatory in Volunteer park close to our home.

-What I ended up wearing to a Christmas party.

-A really big Christmas cactus.

-Walker and I celebrated our Christmas early this year since we were going to be out of town. He made meat pie ( a holiday tradition passed down by his grandfather), we drank wine, and opened gifts.

I’m going to take a short break from posting and let everyone enjoy the holidays, get some good relaxing time in, and get caught up on fun events and projects. I will see you all next Monday! Again, merry Christmas!
