A quick recap of the weekend

February 11, 2013

Here is a quick recap of our weekend (I’ll be sharing more later in the week). We had some friends of ours in town from Austin and we made the most of the few days we had. It was really fun and now it’s back to our regular schedules. Boo.

Taking some time to just enjoy

February 5, 2013

I mentioned the other day that my shop celebrated it’s 2nd anniversary. I planned a little happy hour with Walker and 2 of my friends here in the city. We went to Poco Wine and Spirits (a first for all 4 of us). We shared a bottle of wine and just relaxed while laughing and enjoying each others company. It was very low key and intimate gatherings are my favorite so it was perfect. Here’s to making sure year 3 is even better yet!

(Also sorry about these photos-we were having a lighting issue-so it goes)

A “fancy” dinner

January 29, 2013

Sometimes I like to make dinner feel extra special. When I started making this meal I didn’t intend on it being “fancy” but somewhere along the way I decided it should be. I chose to present it in 4 courses-all being modest sizes (assuring Walker that after the first 3 courses he could have more before the 4th course-dessert-was served).

Course 1: Mixed green salad with beets and tahini lemon dressing.

Course 2: Roasted potatoes and sunchokes.IMG_1172

Course 3: Curried butternut squash soup with toasted homemade bread.IMG_1173

Course 4 (dessert): Tea with pepparkakar cookies (recipe in this post here).IMG_1174

What would you make if you were serving a “fancy” dinner?
