Playing in the snow

January 17, 2014

These are back from our trip to Michigan. There was so much snow at my dad’s house so Walker and I took full advantage. He’s only been in snow a handful of times so it was fun to see him explore and be amazed by it. I love snow so much so I was glad he was having fun. I especially like our upside down snowman. I was aiming for a traditional one but Walker insisted his snow ball was the bottom and I assured his mine was larger. Well I was right but we just went for it anyhow.

The last week or so (well ok maybe the last few weeks) I’ve been preparing for ALT SLC and my head feels like it’s all over the place trying to get everything done and in order. Ah! It’s been slightly overwhelming. I’m finally starting to wrap some things up but it’s nice to take a little snow break and look at these fun pictures from home.

Have a great weekend!

My new blog design by Maiedae

January 13, 2014

It’s finally here! My new beautiful site and I just love it and I’m so glad I can finally share it with you!

(Keep reading to the end I’ve got something important to say)

Way back in April of last year I contacted Maiedae about a logo design and blog makeover. I was paired up with Jenny and we got to work. I will tell you though the only reason it took so long is because I’m so slow at making decisions. So even though the site has a very clean and simple design each small design element took me way longer than it should of. I have no idea how Jenny could be so patient but she was and it was just wonderful to work with her. She was always so helpful and never made me feel rushed.

We started with the logo which is a combination of my work and Jenny’s. I hand drew the saw and wanted it to be a part of the finished design. There was an almost logo right before the one you see now and I’m so glad I decided to change it. For the blog I wanted a really clean look and an easily navigated site. Do you think I accomplished that?

I hope you like it! If you are in need of a site makeover I highly recommend the Maidae team! They were seriously wonderful to work with. If you don’t need a blog makeover then take a minute and browse around mine. Hehehe.

One last thing as I mentioned above. Next week I will be having a pretty big giveaway in celebration of my new site, my 30th birthday (January 1st), and the 3rd anniversary of my shop (January 31st)! I figured I would celebrate everything at once so it could be even bigger! Make sure you get signed up for the newsletter to stay in the loop! I want you to win!

During my mini UP vacation my dad and I ran across this: Lakenenland. It seems that no matter how many times we travel to the UP we always find new things to do or see. This was quite the treasure. Lakenenland is filled with sculptures all done by one guy with the last name-yes you guessed it-Lakenen. The sculpture garden can be walked through, driven through, in the winter snowmobiled through. We drove through but I kept having my dad stop to take pictures of my favorite sculptures. There were so many more really awesome ones. If you ever find yourself just outside of Marquette, MI check this place out. If not at least look through the photos on his website.

It’s not often that my dad and I are truly impressed but in this case we were. Well done Lakenenland!
