This weekend we went camping at Colorado Bend State Park a couple hours outside of Austin. The last time we went camping here was 2 years ago for Walker’s birthday (late June) and it was so, so hot. This time however we had lots of rain and it’s May vs June so the weather was perfect! We thought more rain was coming on Friday but we lucked out and instead had the most perfect weather weekend we could have asked for.
Walker and I got there early before all of our friends so we had some time to explore just the two of us. We found a frog with a heart on it’s head! Ah so cute! We took the short walk to the lagoon area (series of ponds and waterfalls that descend into a deeper pond area). We started at the larger pond and swan, walked, crawled up a few more before heading back down and back to camp.
Now that we were wet a fire sounded like a good idea. It took longer than usual since the wood was a bit damp but Walker got it going and we sat around and tended to the fire while we waited for the rest of our group to arrive.
