Playing in the snow

January 17, 2014

These are back from our trip to Michigan. There was so much snow at my dad’s house so Walker and I took full advantage. He’s only been in snow a handful of times so it was fun to see him explore and be amazed by it. I love snow so much so I was glad he was having fun. I especially like our upside down snowman. I was aiming for a traditional one but Walker insisted his snow ball was the bottom and I assured his mine was larger. Well I was right but we just went for it anyhow.

The last week or so (well ok maybe the last few weeks) I’ve been preparing for ALT SLC and my head feels like it’s all over the place trying to get everything done and in order. Ah! It’s been slightly overwhelming. I’m finally starting to wrap some things up but it’s nice to take a little snow break and look at these fun pictures from home.

Have a great weekend!

A glass bottom boat tour

June 27, 2013

The day before I left Michigan to come back to Seattle my dad suggested we go on this glass bottom boat ride in a nearby city along Lake Huron. The interesting thing about some of the Great Lakes is that they stay very cold so when a ship goes down it stays preserved very well underwater. The city of Alpena, where the boat tour is located, has set up a marine sanctuary intended mainly for divers to explore. The boat tour gives people with no diving skills or know how a chance to see a few of the sunken boats. It was interesting but truth be told they could have done a better job. At the very least it was a fun boat ride on Lake Huron.

Walker’s first mother/daugher camping trip-part 1

June 21, 2013

I have probably mentioned the last couple of years that every summer or fall my mom and I go on an annual camping trip. It started with my mom and all 3 of us siblings but my brother and sister went on to other things and I kept the tradition alive for 14 years now! Holy cow!

This year I was excited to be bringing Walker along for his first (hopefully not last) camping trip. We were also joined by my sister and her husband and my mom’s husband. It was fun having everyone out. We spent a lot of time cooking and cleaning and some time showing Walker our yearly hangouts. I think he enjoyed most of it with his only complaint being that we spend too much time in the car. Well I can’t argue that.
