Country friendship necklaces

January 7, 2013

Once in a while I get a really interesting request. I received one such request the other day. It was for a Haiti and a Dominican Republic necklace that fit together like friendship necklaces. The girl who contacted me is moving to Haiti and her best friend is moving to the Dominican Republic.

I was trilled to get the request! What a cool thing that they are moving to an area that such necklaces would actually work. They are relatively the same size and right next to each other so I would be able to cut them apart creating friendship necklaces. Woo!

She decided to go ahead with the idea and I couldn’t wait to share the final product! If you think you’d like something similar for you and a best friend, mom, sister, mentor let me know! I would love to be able to work on more projects like this.

Catching up

December 21, 2012

I’ve been a little absent over here but after spending about 12 to 13 hours a day cutting, sanding, hammering, polishing, packaging, mailing, answering emails and so on I just couldn’t bring myself to upload photos and write a post. Today I finally feel like I’m catching up and it feels good. I should say mentally because physically I’m beat. Every muscle hurts and I think I may have pinched something in my back. Ha! All I want for Christmas is a massage.

We’ve managed to get out a little but I’m really looking forward to a few days off.

-envelopes to go to the post office. It’s been like this almost every day.

-a late night break to a Korean restaurant.

-it snowed!

-a candy cane to eat while I work.

-more envelopes to mail.

-wine tasting (and buying), using my camera bag as a wine carrier.

Snippets of my life lately

December 11, 2012

1. I talked Walker into trying a Mexican restaurant close to our place and we were quite pleased. The food was ok but the place was so cozy and the staff was so super nice. Walker was talking in Spanish to our waitress and I think she was pretty impressed. I practiced what little Spanish I could remember with him. It was pretty funny.

2. We made apple butter. Our canning was sketchy at best so I hope it doesn’t go bad.

3. Packages….oh so many.

4. I found a discarded rose head on the ground and rescued it.
