On this particular day the weather was a bit cooler so I layered a bit on our walk to the International District to find some Pho. Walking by this area IĀ talked Walker into taking a couple of pictures and I really like how they turned out.
Yes it’s true! I really am! After 4 years of living in Austin I’m heading out of here. Just in time too since the days are getting hotter and hotter as the middle of summer approaches.
So what’s the deal, you’re wondering, why are you leaving this great city? Oh lot’s of reasons I’d say but the biggest reason is that Walker got a job in Seattle and I want to go with him and he wants me to go so I’m going. All the other reasons are secondary but there are some really nice perks of leaving. Escaping this soul sucking summer heat for one.
The other reason I’m pretty pumped is because of what I said I’d do if Walker got a job in Seattle. One day I said hey if you get that job I’m totally going to Michigan for the summer. In case you didn’t know, I’m from Michigan (I lived there my whole life until I moved to Texas). And so I’m going to Michigan for the summer. It will be hard to be away from Walker for a few months but I’m really looking forward to it. It will give him time to settle into his new job and new routine and it will give me time to see my family (which I’m so super excited about) and focus on some things I’ve been dreaming of. Mainly seeing what it’s like focusing on my business full time. Of course I’m also excited about visiting with friends, swimming in the great lakes, going boating with my dad, reading, working on some sewing projects, and the list goes on. I’m a happy girl.
But of course to get to the stage there will be a lot of sad moments mixed with the stress of packing, moving, saying goodbye and my routine getting completely torn apart. I’m not the best when it comes to dealing with change so this will be a bit of a trial for me. Encouragement welcome. hehe.
Ah one more thing. So Walker is moving to Seattle at the end of the month and I’m not moving until the end of June but I will be traveling with him to Seattle for a visit. I’ve never even been there! I hope I think, although I’ve been assured many times I will.
I have had this dress for years, probably at least 5 years. I just couldn’t get myself to get rid of it since I had only worn it once and there was nothing wrong with it. Recently I revisited getting rid of it yet again but this time I decided if I couldn’t make it work it was outta here! I put it on and tried to figure out what I like and didn’t like about it. I didn’t like that the style was out of date, it was kind of see through, and the waist sat kind of low. I liked the shape of the skirt and that was really it so I thought, duh, turn it into a skirt. I chopped the top off, sewed the top together where the buttons met on the soon to be waist, folded down the excess to make a tube, added elastic, finished it off and done. I had a finished skirt. Here it is 2 ways.
