This is part 2 of Tom and Allyson’s wedding week.

On Friday evening we headed out to their rehearsal dinner but we were a bit early so we stopped into a pretty cool Austin bar for a drink and a mini photo shoot obviously. Haha!

Then we headed to Max’s Wine Dive for the party. The entire time I lived in Austin I never went there so I was pretty excited to check it out. The place seemed to be pretty packed so I’m really glad we were in a private room below. The wine was good and the company even better.

After the party ended the whole friend group headed to a bar downtown to meet up with more friends. It’s so fun seeing every new friend and the excitement and the hugs. I just love it. After a bit of sweating it out on the dance floor Walker and I headed back to the house because the wedding extravaganza was far from over.

A few weeks ago Walker and I went to Austin for a wedding. We actually had 2 weddings in the span of 3 weeks so I stayed for the entire 3 weeks and Walker came and went for 2 of the long weekends. It’s always so nice to be in Austin where the sun is shining and the nights are warm. Walker’s parents are also in town so we got to spend some time with them and also catch up with a lot of our friends both in town and visiting for the wedding.

The rehearsal dinner for the first wedding was held at Franklin Barbecue. Perhaps you’ve heard of it or seen it in those American express commercials? If not I’ll tell you it’s damn good barbecue and people wait in line for hours every morning to get a taste. If you’re the meat eating type and have the patience I recommend it next time you’re in Austin.

We stood around and drank beers and talked with our friends while we patiently waited for the food. Then we got to get in line and order what we wanted. I always go heavy on the ribs and really light on everything else. (I should also mention that I really haven’t been eating meat but I was really excited for this so I indulged a little or a lot maybe.)

It was a fun and laid back kind of party and a great way to kick off an extended stay in Austin.

A washington wedding

May 21, 2014

Oh boy things have been quiet over here. We’ve been up to a lot of fun and I made the decision to blog a little less. I’m hoping to catch you up though so don’t worry!

A few weeks ago we attended a wedding in Washington of a friend that I met about 10 years ago in community college. We haven’t kept in touch a lot over the years so I was honored to be attending their very initiate wedding. They held it at one of the wineries about 25 minutes out of the city. As you may or may not know Walker and I don’t own a car so we had a bit of an adventure getting out there. We took 2 buses and then walked for about 2 miles. Luckily it was a beautiful day and I was so thankful the sun was out. I could have complained about our lack of car and the long bus ride and the long walk but instead I chose to think of it as an adventure that we were on together.

As we walked along the road together we joked about feeling like we were in a movie. My movie was obviously a romantic comedy. You know one where the car breaks down and the main characters argue but by the end are totally in love? Walker was thinking something more along the lines of a horror flick-to each his own. Ha!

The small wedding was really beautiful. The flowers were done by the mother and some of herĀ  friends. The cakes were all made by the bride’s sister. The multi-course dinner was from a Vietnamese restaurant in Seattle and it was some of the most interesting and tasty wedding food I’ve had. After we spent quite a while eating we finally got to dance! We danced our little hearts out (always my favorite part of any wedding). Oh and did I mention the wine was fabulous?! It was at a winery after all.
