Happy Valentine’s day!

February 14, 2014

Last year Walker and I spend the evening together and we played a fun game of grocery store scavenger hunt and then made dinner together. We don’t make a huge deal out of Valentine’s day but it’s nice to make time for each other. If you’re looking for something low key but fun to do today check out my post from last year.

I’m off exploring the Olympic Peninsula with Walker and my dad who is in town visiting so we’ll be having a family Valentine’s day. I’ll chat with you next week!

ALT dinner with Umba

January 29, 2014

I think I need to ease into spilling all about ALT (all good of course). I just feel like I have so much to share that if I don’t do it slow I won’t do it at all. I have about 150 business cards I collected that I’ll be sharing soon also.

I arrived in Salt Lake City on Wednesday and I met up with a few Seattle bloggers (Brooke and Megan) unexpectedly at the airport (they were on my flight and I had no idea). We made it to the hotel, checked in, got set up, met my roommate, attended the early bird sessions, and then got ready for dinner. I carpooled with a few ladies headed to my dinner and it was a great way to slowly start meeting the some 700 people in attendance at the overall event.

Our dinner was held at The Tin Angel in Salt Lake City and hosted by Umba. It was such a fun group of ladies and after we all sat down and started talking I think we felt a little more at ease. I had some wonderful conversations over dinner and met one of my conference buddies (Jacqueline). I met a lot of great ladies and I will be mentioning them all when I post about the business cards.

I was glad our dinner didn’t last too late though and I had a chance to relax and get a good night’s sleep before the event fully kicked off.

Early thanksgiving

While I was home the timing worked out really well to plan early Thanksgiving during my trip. Woo! In years past I’ve not only missed Thanksgiving but my family members would also have an early Thanksgiving where everyone would come up north to my dad’s house in the woods. It was nice spending time with everyone. It was also my new nephew’s first trip away from home. It was exciting having the new family member around. We all wanted to hold him and all he wanted to do was eat. Oh babies.

The company was great and all the food was wonderful. It was a lazy weekend full of laughter (maybe too much since I got a little reprimand from my sister for laughing too loud when she and the baby were trying to get a nap in-whoops-love you sister!) and eating-perfection.
