My farmers market finds

September 13, 2013

This week at the farmers market I couldn’t buy very much because we are heading out of town this weekend and more importantly I rode my bike and I only had a small bag with me. I’m starting to go enough that I have my favorite booths and farmers. My current favorite booth is one being run by a lady who sells organic tomatoes and this week also grapes. Her prices are fantastic and she’s really nice.

I spent $14.45 and got 1 artichoke, 1 pound of tomatoes, 1/2 pound of mixed grapes, a few sweet red peppers, 2 hot red peppers, 3 yellow cucumbers, 4 sweet onions, 3 heads of garlic, and a small watermelon.

I did manage to get most of this in my small bag but I had to tie another bag to the outside with the rest of my things. It’s a good thing I live pretty close to market so I didn’t have to bike far. We’ve eaten almost everything but I have a mixed vegetable pasta planned tonight so I plan on using the rest plus a few other things from the fridge.

Have a great weekend!

A quick ferry trip

September 6, 2013

This past Monday, also Labor day, we rode the ferry to Bainbridge Island with our friends. Riding a ferry boat was high on their list of things to do and so we made it our mandatory Monday before they drove home plan. I wasn’t sure I was so into riding the ferry again since just a couple weekends ago we rode on a few ferries while Walker’s parents were in town but it turned out to be fun. It’s always nice when someones excitement can rub off on you. I guess that’s what good friends are for.

We had their car with us so we drove down the road and found a breakfast/brunch spot. It turned out the place we chose was a super cute vintage diner. Perfect! We all got something to eat, which was good because I was starting to get hunger pains (I don’t usually wait so long to eat breakfast).

Then we drove right back to the ferry with perfect timing and had a wonderful ending to a very fun weekend.

Labor day weekend

September 4, 2013

This year our friends from Eugene drove up to spend the weekend with us. They were here this same weekend last year but I didn’t arrive until Monday so I was only able to say hello and then they were off. This year was great because I was here for the whole weekend. Our other friend who just moved to town also joined in the fun and it was such a great weekend.

We laughed so hard, stayed up later than usual, played games, ate good food, and tasted lots of Seattle beer. I was exhausted after the weekend and happy to just sit down and relax. It was so worth it though. Spending time with good friends in the best.
